Passengers often face long queues at the gate when boarding for their flight begins. The Leipzig-based company Sensape has now developed a solution to this problem. Via smartphone, passengers can secure a place in a virtual queue and remain comfortably seated until it is their turn to board.

Virtual queue from Leipzig-based company promises to avoid queues at airport gates through virtual queueing

Passengers often face long queues at the gate when boarding for their flight begins. The Leipzig-based company Sensape has now developed a solution to this problem. Via smartphone, passengers can secure a place in a virtual queue and remain comfortably seated until it is their turn to board.

"During boarding or even before, long lines often form because everyone wants to board the plane first. We want to make waiting more relaxed for everyone and help improve service," says Artur Lohrer of Sensape. The solution to this is a virtual queue on the smartphone and is called "Sensape Q". Using their smartphone, guests can scan a QR code at the gate or access the queue via the website. There, they can easily join the queue. The notification service via SMS or push notification, as well as the display of the waiting time in real-time, means that the time until boarding can be arranged flexibly and even far away from the gate in the stores or in the food area. "To use Sensape Q in the most accessible way possible, there is no need to download an extra app and the language automatically adapts to the one of the smartphone browser. A pager can be provided for guests without smartphones," Lohrer adds. "Because of our solution, waiting no longer feels like waiting and makes for an efficient visit to the airport. Of course, in pandemic times, it is also important to avoid increased contact in queues to reduce the risk of infection."
